Yeah I think the buzz on this update is that it is supposed to allow drops for people that are relevant in inferno, as opposed the only way to get applicable drops, is from someone on a higher chapter in Inferno / AKA Auction House.

I'll consider trying Act 2 after the patch, but will not be shocked if the drops are bunk and the Blue and Yellow mods still are hyper cheapshot. Drops I could actually use would be a bonus.

That being said, I'd play Nightmare or Hell mode with people. Inferno was just too much for too little. I'd like them to prove me wrong @ patch time though.

I am trying to login again today, but ran into an issue with my authenticator. It seems like my authenticator key changed when the software update downloaded, or I simply haven't logged into D3 since I switched to a newer phone. I thought I was logged in ~ my last post (and replaced a bit before then) , so I suspect the app update might have blown my key away.

Version 1.3.4 for iOS in my instance.

It took me quite a bit to figure out why it was failing, then I saw my prefix was fr the wrong region?!? Lucky me, I did keep my original authentication info, but by time I figured that out I already reset my pass a few times and invoked the dreaded Error 503 - AKA "Piss off and try later".

To remove an old authenticator, you need to upload a copy of your photo ID. Most fucking offensive means to reset an account for a game. I have the old Serial and matching Restore Code, but the application rejects them. I do believe the application client update is what caused my saved ID on my mobile to switch to a EU region code.

I have a local dawg who wants to play a bit and I am interested in how some classes play post patching. As of now, current version is 1.06.

Patch 1.0.7 is due sometime fairly soon, with some of the PvP / Dueling due to be added.

Fixed issue by phone support. Apparently I could not use my old App ID for the authenticator, since it now hashes these codes in conjunction with a mobile device ID.

Extra retrace

I was pissed about my CE not having the full installer on it, but actually I still had 'Don't show hidden files' on, (I built new PC a few weeks before release) as I put the disc in today and confirmed 7.8 GB of .MPQ and the like.

It was still an awfully stupid call for the installers to download the whole game on release day, but I wanted to confirm my game disc isn't completely useless. :P

More random observations... Around June 2012, people were being banned from Diablo 3 for playing it in Wine, under Linux. Yes, setting up a Linux Install with Wine for Diablo III = Cheating by Blizzard standards.

I want to think this still isn't the case, but WoW that's some insanity since every other active mainline Blizzard title is allowed to be run on Linux, without fear of ban. Oh, this was still an issue in October. Get ready for some downsizing and job cuts, if you don't shake that "We're a Corporation, Fuck the Customer" mantra madness.

Patch 1.07 is out. I am downloading it because I saw news of the PS3 and PS4 versions of Diablo 3. Blizzard Press Release

Sorry dudes, but I have to join team NeoGaf in thinking console was the original audience. Skill Tree and characters are far too dumbed down for this to not have been the original intention.

Remove that auction house shit and IRL money, and high-end play might be enjoyable. I would like new gear, that was actually a drop I farmed for. I dream of local PC Co-Op and/or LAN PLAY. No forced battle.net authentication please.

Also for Lols for the FFXI Players out there. 'PS2 Limitations'.

Yeah I pre-ordered this thing and probably only got about 2hrs of gameplay into it... if that... I wish they coulda just did a DIII that was basically D2 with new story and some updated graphics... but same mechanics and gameplay.:icon_mad1:

I hope some people are taking notes that a non-broken mechanic, does not require being changed. Diablo 3 should have been remarkable with familar dynamics, not mediocre with microtransactions. Making a game more "accessible" is also a huge pet peeve. In other words, remove character customization, point trees and so on, so 'everyone' can enjoy it.

When you make the 3rd game of a series into the 'everyone' edition, all those other non-PC players (IE: people who didn't get to play Diablo 1 or 2) will see Diablo 3 and wonder why anyone cared in the 1st place. You can thank 'accessibility' for that. If my friend is mainly into mobile and facebook / flash games, Diablo might be a bad fit. Let it be that way.

Games were way more fun when they weren't built to be subscription based, single player titles.

Agree 100%. The business model of making okay for everyone vs. awesome for core group is an annoying trend. I understand why it pulls that way from management and bottom lines and BS... but fuck that. I bet having a legion of super dedicated fans vs a huge group of averagely satisfied people is better $$ in long-term plans anyways.

Blizzard used to rock my world. crdy.gif They've made WoW into something a pet can play... D3 was a disaster (for me personally)... can't comment on SC2.. but I'm sick of all the targeting of casual gamers for sake of quicker up front money.

I've only played a few missions in SC2 thus far, but that appears to be the last traditionally not broken main title.

PS3 version will have no auction house, DRM, but will have offline local multiplayer.

So they took the worst parts out for the console version? Blizzard, your showing those corporate colors pretty brightly. Good luck trying to rebuild that user base. It could sound entitled, but when the worst features from your main release are applied to the ported edition, You are gonna have some pissed off fans.

Do the people who make these games, actually play them anymore? Games were way more fun when people designed what they would like to play, instead of optimizing for achievements.

I uninstalled D3 last night to make room for other games. Patch in some features you know everyone on PC would want, but I'm still not seeing an about-face being likely.

I think one of the problems is , possibly, the same thing that happened to movies. Teams are getting way too big, and strong voices of direction are getting pulled and shifted and shattered. Possibly why so many have turned to indie games for little gems of fresh gaming experiences.:chicken:

Sounds logic there. that would explain why everything feels more like a checklist, than an experience. It feels like the old (90's) music industry regulations and criteria have bled into the game industry.

Indie is where the adventure is. On the upside for retail games becoming more linear, it will save me quite a bit of time and money. I'm hoping Bioshock infinite doesn't fall to this as well, but nothing is really safe anymore.

If I was told 10 years ago that major franchise game titles would be reaching for a madden release cycle, and that games are nearly the new common recreational activity, I would be really skeptical. Meanwhile, in the current real world shares these facts.

Yeah... it's strange... the more mainstream gaming has become, the less of a gamer I have become. I suppose that trend could be totally unrelated to my own gaming habit graph... but... still an interesting thought.:zyo:

Same here man. I personally attribute too much IT work as a factor on my end. Since it's spring now, I just run away from my desk most of the time at home. I also find myself more interested in reading.

It feels like games stopped going for the imagination and engaging narrative. Click to Win, instead!

I can tell you I'm making some space on my PC by removing Diablo 3. Diablo 3 gold duping bug and their response confirms I am done with this game, unless they strip the auction house and RMT out, completely.

On the upside, that leaves me with Starcraft 2 to finish. Possibly the last good (Blizzard) game, not to be blatantly monetized?

Good Luck there, Activision Blizzard.

Np! Was excited to hear.

Only issue is I must wait so long till it happens!! I'm updating my game... I might try some solo play earlier than that.... as I bought the damn thing full price (pre-order) and only put about 2hrs of gameplay into it.
