I had an old database on my home PCs for years and the last time I tried to restore this stuff, it was directly into PHPNuke, and that was a damn nightmare. Thus you have custom pages with 0 formatting, excluding what is in the Post content. I hear ya on finding some people. I tend to see a few @ RFHQ, or Xbox live, but that's about it, short of IRL ones. Don't worry, I was only 12 when I joined the Volition boards and then the RFHQ boards. So I can't even imagine what my posts where like but I sure as hell don't want to read them. Spent 11 years now on Volition-RFHQ/PluS/X-FTB. Nearly half my life growing old with this crowd because of a single game. Link to comment
Philip Posted September 19, 2011 Report Share Posted September 19, 2011 (edited) Haha, so true. I was about 15 or 16 I guess. I was COMPLETELY illiterate and twice as angry. I went to an awful school that didn't teach me very much. My parents tried to teach me, but I said I wasn't interested. I felt that after I left the school gates, I was away from education and therefore I should do something more fun with my time. My English is still pretty poor now, especially if I am writing on a forum or to friends in an email. It takes me a lot of time to make my writing concise and that's why I don't usually bother. I've grown up, but at the same time I find it hard to believe that people change. Life is different, so I am different. I am obsessed with learning now though. I am not half as angry, I know that much. I can still be a dick to people (assuming they are one to me)--I'd be lying if I said otherwise--but it's not based on anger, it's just because I am a bit of a dick, I am not as vulgar with it, at least. I think of anger as a weakness now, and every time I get angry, I try to work out how to stop it. Whereas, back then, I think it fuelled me lol. People wrongfully thought I took the game too serious or I was mad at them, in truth, I was perpetually pissed off regardless. I hate arguing now too, due to the knowledge I have regarding fallacies--it gives me a headache if you want to know the truth. I LOVED arguing then though; silence was like kryptonite to me.
