Pic0o
Closest thing I saw mentioned, was a Ps3 Media Player, that has some support for 360, but it didn't sound like it was the best yet. Not sure on the URL and stuff, I'll see what I can find. This might be it: http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/ by shagrath Hi there... you will find on this page an experimental upnp media server I've written in Java (so you can also use it on Linux), with precious help from MPlayer/MEncoder, FFMpeg, AVISynth eventually, and currently using with my Playstation3.... I was quite fed up with TVersity and others servers I've tried as none of them easily supports subtitles and 1080p transcode, as well as any kind of files I want to play without worrying about ps3 compatibility. I'm currently transcoding in real-time and no quality loss, 1080p mkv files. The drawback is the high bitrate your network must support: with the default settings, specific scenes with a lot of details (e.g.: zoom on a newspaper article) can have bitrates near 100mb/s, so gigabit is maybe useful. However, you can limit the bitrate, for wireless 720p playback for example. Check The FAQ ! Win, Mac and Linux Versions? Awesome, DL'ing now. I got my console found, and I see the Server in my Video browsing on my 360, but no go on video, Avi or Mkv. I tried the transcoding option as well (pretty sure primary objective) and it fails in Linux trying to access tsMuxeR. Structure looks fine, not sure why it's shitting out. I cleared the error by running the app from a smaller directory tree, but video still fails. Edited May 31, 2009 by Pic0o Not yet Link to comment
Pic0o
I split this topic from the Windows 7 thread, as I want to test it for more purposes. I am about to see how it works with my MythTv server, so I can watch my dubbed shit from that Nix rig. :bunny: Since the sub-codecs and shit were the beef on my main Nix rig, I hope the Tv-Rips pose little problem, since the 360 should be able to play those files native. I'll also prolly give a test to music streaming, as this app fixes the Media Player sharing Cockblock on Linux, and if the content plays well, I will get much use from this app. BTW, if I didn't say it, Boot your Xbox before loading the server for easy detection. Pic0o
I'm trying this again, as I would like our TV XP rig to be my AVI player for the 360. Halloween season = Many Movies to watch. http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/ Last run, I tried the Linux version. Going for an XP blend, so I can shut my Desktop off, or play games while I watch. Wow, Works ok, but the Audio is off. Just be sure to browse to the folder, then select #--Transcode--#. I'm seeing what I can do for the Audio Sync Fail. Fixed by enabling Force Framerate from FFMpeg in Transcoding settings. You can also pause, without fear of the sync being broken. For the record, I'm transcoding SD video from a P4 3.00GHz. Very Happy now. Edited October 10, 2009 by Pic0o Working Transcodes Link to comment
