Pic0o
I juggled the idea a few times before, but after reading some feedback on the fun in having an arcade stick for Fighters and other games like Scott Pilgrim, I made travel to start my hunt. I ended up grabbing a Street Fighter 4 Fightstick Tournament Edition, I got the Round 2 edition stick. Locally it was ~$130 and I had some trade-ins to take the sting off that price. There is also a cheaper version of the stick, but it apparently doesn't use Sanwa components, as there are a bunch of mod guides around, to put your own Sanwa components in. Seems like spending the extra for the Sanwa parts and/or immediately modding the cheaper model with Sanwa components is highly advised. Speaking on more Mods, you can also go and make a custom logo for the top of your stick. The link at the end of that guide has a super-thread with peoples modded sticks. It seems you can use this on PC as well, but you'll need to set said USB Port to USB 1.1 for it to work. If you are on an Intel or Via Chipset, you should be fine, as the USB switch is automatic. Tinkering with this now. PC Works as I was in some Left 4 Dead with the stick. Default button config is meh, but it worked for sure. Confirmed on a P4 rig. The term for what functionality supports this USB magic is UHCI support. I played some Scott Pilgrim to get an initial vibe on the stick and I :ninjawub: it. I also didn't realize how long it's been since I heard the classic 'click' of an arcade stick. :) Expensive, but awesome is the vote I give to this item. I dig the lap based arcade action. :) The switch for using Left Stick, D-Pad or Right Stick is also excellent. Such a great idea. SFA_300_DPI.rar Link to comment
Afronomicon
If anyone is looking to rock the DIY modding, peep Sanwa Arcade Parts. About 2 bucks a button, and 20 for the Joystick. So 40 for replacement parts to upgrade the low-end stick is adding value to getting the more expensive, Sanwa equipped stick I got :bunny: Link to comment
Pic0o
I rocked this Pro Tiger Style this weekend on some Scott Pilgrim. Super Rad power was unleashed until the last level of SP, requiring some non-analog stick movement to star alive. I CRUSHED the other levels using this pad and loved doing it. My boy also got the MarvelvsCapcom edition of the Pro stick and loves it. Next effort, taking this puppy to some Tekken 6 play, despite my suck. :) My buddy is some mad Tekken skills, so his pad will be super seasoned quick. :P Link to comment
Pic0o
Reanimator of thread, Ho. I have this working on my Core i5 Sandy Bridge PC! On initial try I would get the device but none of the button presses would show in my Controller Config. I switched USB ports since each set is on a different controller on my ASUS P8Z68 Pro Gen3 motherboard. The Intel USB you want, are off the 2 USB under the onboard NIC. Going to give trials to my Street Fighter IV install I got awhile back with my video card. :) PC + PS3 Arcade stick = Hell yeah. Confirmed working. Just be sure to pick the 'PC USB Wired Stick 8838' device you should see upon plugging in the TE stick (PS3 version device) . Edited April 7, 2012 by Pic0o Link to comment
nick
I don't play fighting games anymore (my venture into them was incredibly short), but I have a similar stick setup as a ghetto set of foot pedals. Really useful, well, so long as you take your shoes off. :P Link to comment
