nick
Link to the sex machine Just had one of these delivered and the little bastard is awesome. If you have a display to spare, and no available outputs for it, this fucker has your number. And it works really, really well. It's running a 1080 panel on my rig atm with minimal cpu usage over usb 2. It even handles shit like youtube fairly well though I'd never use it for that. The USB cable it requires kinda sucks (finicky connection). But fuck that, for as long as it's connected it will rock your world. Dunno about nix support yet. Could get the most out of it with a tiling window manager but man this thing is pimp regardless. Edited March 21, 2013 by nick Link to comment
Pic0o
Wow, that's very handy. All about: full support for Windows Vista Aero and high resolution capabilities Have some that barely rock that. Superb price point too. :afro: Link to comment
JeT
How many monitors are you rockin? 2 default... 4 SLI... hrm... Do you have 5 monitors? :o Link to comment
nick
Yeah I could drive 5 with this little gizmo. I recently got rid of my cheapo TNs though, so I only have 3 screens. My goal is to get a reasonable setup going of 3-4 2560 IPS screens, but my lazyness is in direct opposition to getting that done anytime soon. I got this EVGA thing out of pure curiosity. I figured it would be comedy act of a product and I'd get to smugly berate the thing and its designers after watching it fail to play GIFs properly, but it's actually fairly damned impressive for what it is. It's not all that cost effective compared to eyefinity, but it's just... so neat. The tech isn't really new or anything, but as I'm mostly submerged in the networking world I never even knew this shit existed. DisplayLink seems to be the king of powering the every day useless corporate meeting. All that said, it seems a bit weird to me that EVGA would release something like this. It doesn't really seem like their thing, but then I was surprised when they started churning out mobos (though in hindsight it was obvious, really). And now looking at their products page they're even making PCoIP clients. Well, alright then. Link to comment
Pic0o
I enjoy that your expectations were equal to my experience with 'Wireless Projectors'. Set one of those up little over a year ago, saw it's latency then tested with a video. It was completely worthless short of a really crappy slide show. It being a B/G WiFi device was a subtle tip off too. As for this device, mitigating the single card / 3 display thing is a nice option. If I get any new monitors, I'd probably get a nice single IPS display and portrait my 1080p displays. However considering the cost of monitor, mounting solutions and such, I'll likely go on vacation first. ;) Link to comment
