ROG ASUS 144 Hz Displays

Weird bit of a duplicate issue I see on PS5 when playing on ether my XG49VG or older PG248Q.

Bit of ghosting I never saw on the Samsung PC displays. I only notice this at 60 Hz on HDMI with the PS5 so far. Going to retest on a TV display as I had flaky HDMI on the LG 43" I was using before the circuit issue on that model.  Glad I get the extended coverage from retail so I can drop if it is hard not doing it to specs.

 

I still see this for any input at 60 Hz, HDMI or DisplayPort.  I put in a support ticket but I suspect this is a known issue on these screens?  I can cheat by playing into my capture card to see the console do 60 FPS, while my desktop is running 144 Hz.  No shadowing issue on the screen in that case.  Keeping in mind I am tricking it with a capture card.

I went through an RMA for this but I just decided to upgrade to the 4k 43" display.

Way happier with this choice. HDMI 2.1 looks amazing as does the white bezel. ROG Swift PG43UQ is a nice display, even despite missing the ultra-wide  from the 49"

So let me tell you a story.
The ROG Asus Panels are shitty.  I say this from having 3 and my old 144Hz 1080P screen has the same issues.  These panels are really old.  They go bright but the pixel draw rate is shitty.

 

XG43UQ has HDMI 2.1 support and VRR capabilities but this display flickers at 120Hz over DisplayPort. Item Link https://rog.asus.com/us/monitors/above-34-inches/rog-strix-xg43uq-model/

PS5 only sees this doing 60Hz over HDMI and I am not seeing VRR enable on my PS5 running monitor firmware V041.

 

I got the extended warranty so I am returning this display.  The shadowing is really bad again coming from V038 firmware. Then it was never great either.
