Licence Plate Light

Recommended Posts

As you may has figured from seeing any pics of my car, my bumper is not Metal. This proved to make hooking a working Tail light up difficult, as it needed a ground and power to light up. Once upon a time, a shop 'fixed' it during and inspection with some of the shittiest wiring I have ever seen. After getting pulled over the other night (no ticket, yay. Pretty sure Kat and the Dogs helped), I opted to setup a reliable means to keep the light working.

For my ground, I used the base of the light as intended, and for the completion of ground and keeping the wire in place, I grabbed Aluminum foil and electrical tape. I would have solder'd that shit on, but my tip is pretty gimped, rat shack seems to not have a replacement, despite my iron being from there, and finally, soldering under my car @ ground level would have been a PITA, as the power cable is short as shit.

So yeah, I wrapped the contact up, electrical taped it, threw some screw-caps on my extension ground and another on the power, and I have a license plate light again. Joy goes to one less reason for my car to be profiled and pulled over. Another lesson learned when dealing with the world of aftermarket car accessories, like when I figured out that custom tail lights don't come sealed, and go to shit if you don't seal them yourself.
