Pic0o
Top O' the Mornin, I am curious to find a reasonably priced PCI SATA Card for a Home PC, as the Mobo does not have any SATA Ports, and I'd like to phase out some of the older IDE Drives. Needless to say, PCI-Express is also not an option, we're talking AMD 2100+ CPU era. I am also looking to move my main storage to Linux, and would like to find a Card that supports this with Minimal woes. I was wondering if any of you heads have been in this boat, and what route you took. A SATA II Controller Card (SATA 3.0) card is ideal, but I could deal with 1.5 if for some reason no 3.0 card works well in Linux. I am not looking to setup a RAID config. I honestly want to Avoid Startech, as most of their products I have dealt with, are flaky @ best. I'd like to keep my price below $100, and I can take my time, since I'm not ordering anything in the immediate future. 4 SATA connectors would be nice, but I could deal with 2. So far, I'm looking @ this Promise SATA300 TX4 PCI card. Link to comment
